Ministry of Education Invites Entries for ‘Baalpan ki Kavita’ Competition to Promote Indian Language Poems for Kids

Education Desk – The Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSE&L) of the Ministry of Education has started a new initiative in collaboration with MyGov, named – “Baalpan ki Kavita” competition.

This competition has been started with the aim of encouraging children’s poems of Indian languages and preparing culturally rich educational material for children of foundational stage i.e. early education level.

What is the objective of ‘Baalpan ki Kavita’ competition?

According to Para 4.11 of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, young children learn complex concepts more easily in their mother tongue or local language. But currently, children across the country read English poems during primary education which are cut off from their local environment and culture.

Keeping this in mind, this competition is an effort towards collecting and promoting traditional or new poems in Hindi, regional languages and English. These poems will promote play based and activity based learning of children.
