Himachal Pradesh Govt is planning to introduce CBSE curriculum in government schools

Shimla. Education Desk – Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced plans to implement the CBSE curriculum in government schools in the state.He said that this initiative will be started as a pilot project and in the first phase, CBSE syllabus will be introduced in 100 government schools.

The announcement was made during a programme held at Baldayan in Shimla. The Chief Minister said that the state government is constantly making efforts to bring about a comprehensive change in the education system so that the students get quality and national level education.

Chief Minister Sukhu said that with the implementation of CBSE syllabus, the students of Himachal Pradesh would get an opportunity to compete with the national education system. Under this, students will be able to get information about better resources, exam pattern and career options.

Earlier, the government had also decided that all government senior secondary schools located in urban areas will be made co-educational.This will provide equal opportunities to girls and boys and promote social inclusion.

Structural changes in education administration

The state government had taken another major decision in the cabinet meeting held on March 28, 2025, under which the Directorate of Elementary Education has been upgraded to the Directorate of School Education. This new directorate will now oversee the education system from pre-nursery to class 12.
