Exam format and shift information

Last year in 2024, for the first time NEET PG was conducted in two shifts. At that time the exam was held on 11 August.

First shift 9 am to 12:30 pm
Second shift 3:30 pm to 7 pm

The same two-shift system is being adopted this year as well. The exam will be conducted in CBT (Computer-Based Test) mode.

Students’ resentment: Why the opposition to two shifts?

There is anger among the students regarding the decision to conduct the examination in two shifts. They say that—

  • The difficulty of the neet question paper may vary in both the shifts.
  • The score normalization process is not transparent.
  • It may be unequal and unfair compared to the old Single-Shift Format.

Although NBEMS has adopted the normalization method to give equality to the scores, students say that this affects the credibility.

So far no official statement or change has been announced by NBEMS. Students are constantly demanding the return of the old single session model.

Recently a fake tweet went viral on social media stating that the NEET PG 2025 exam has been postponed till August 17. On this, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has clarified that:

“This claim is completely fake. NEET PG 2025 exam will be conducted on the scheduled time i.e. June 15 only.”

Like every year, this time too around 2 lakh MBBS graduates will appear in NEET PG. They will compete for around 52,000 postgraduate medical seats across the country.

NBEMS has only said that the exam will be held in two shifts in CBT format, but no clear answer or clarification has been given so far regarding the concerns of the students.
