Punjab Schools to Organise Calligraphy Competition for Students of Class 6 to 10

PSEB NEWS DESK : The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has announced that a calligraphy competition will be held at the school level for students from Classes 6 to 10. This initiative has been launched to improve students’ language expression, sentence structure, and neat handwriting.

Why this Calligraphy competition?

The State Education Research and Training Council has issued instructions to all District Education Officers to organise the calligraphy competition during April 2025 as part of the academic session 2025–26. The purpose is to help students develop better writing habits and clean handwriting.

How will the Calligraphy competition be judged?

The competition will carry 20 marks in total:

Evaluation Area Marks
Neat and clean writing 3
Proper use of punctuation, spelling, and sentence structure 8
Word spacing, line alignment, and handwriting flow 6
Overall presentation and impact 3

Guidelines to be followed

  • Students of Classes 6 to 8 will copy 150 words from any English book.
  • Classes 9 and 10 will write 250 words.
  • The total time will be 30 minutes.
  • No correction fluid or whitener will be allowed.
  • Students must use only blue or black pen.
  • The competition will be observed by teachers and evaluated fairly.

Submission and Results

  • Schools must complete the competition by the third week of April 2025.
  • Best entries from each school must be shared with the Board by 30 April 2025.
  • Results must be emailed to: scertenglish@punjabeducation.gov.in.

This PSEB Special Calligraphy competition is a great effort by the Punjab government to help students improve their handwriting and writing skills. Schools are advised to conduct it seriously and encourage all eligible students to take part.
